All Logitech Harmony 300 Universal Remote Control (People's remote control) - NEW: View Best Price Customer Reviews Simply convincing 4 long time I was skeptic about Unviersalfernbedienungen. I always had the feeling that these are divided into two types: cheap and useless vs. expensive and complicated.

But I was wrong. The Logitech Harmony 300 is really unbeatable in terms of the price-performance ratio.

Advantages:
- very simple and intuitive installation: There is everything here, "online" from a graphically enhanced program performs a reasonable through all the steps. It does not take long and you must determine in advance only device manufacturer and model number. You can check in advance on the Internet, whether his unit is also supported. Programming is then ultra-fix. Top!

- many choices: with the default settings after installation you can start right away, but it is possible that some key functions are not yet optimal. The buttons you can easily change with drag and drop and cover with other functions of the device - as you like. a feature is not listed, should we also can reprogram this using the original remote control. I did not, however, have to try.

- good design: a matter of opinion, of course, but I do not have a remote control light and have no display. Here you get a simple and sober design WOBI the keys are arranged well and the remote fits comfortably in your hand. Is obviously a little larger than normal remote controls, but just not a half iPad, that awkward in his hand, and fears that it breaks.

- the price: I think absolutely fair when you consider what you must spend part of for so-frills remote controls.

Disadvantages:

- it is a PC with USB and internet access absolutely necessary: Unfortunately, there is probably no alternative. While thus the operation is very comfortable, however, all without the Internet and / or PC in the cold.

- Registration with myharmony absolutely necessary: you have to register with an email in order to use the Harmony can. I can not be foreseen, whether I ever get junk mail, but either way is likely to Some deterrent. Furthermore, a program / drivers are installed.

- devices: it can unfortunately "only" 4 to operate equipment. do quite enough for me (TV, satellite, DVD, VCR), but many are probably 5 or 6 devices (eg stereo) use. For the price of 4 devices are fairly safe, but I think it would have been determined technically feasible or add one or two. One of my units did not initially work, but there was one letter of the model number wrong. I do not know whether the fault here lies with the manufacturer or from Logitech.

Conclusion: I do not like the concept, but "people control" does it very well. For the average user who has a PC and Internet connection to call its own, the Harmony 300 is great. For a small price you get an easy to use universal remote control. I for one am completely happy. If she still has some time without the two batteries to give up their minds quickly and peel off the button labels, I really am completely satisfied.

PS: Package: needed batteries and USB cable.

good and cheap, but comes in comfort at more than 2 devices can not reach a "real" Harmony 3 I am a convinced user of a Harmony 555, the 6 devices in my living room controls. In the bedroom I wanted to replace the remote controls of my LCD (Toshiba) and DVD player (Philips) - especially the latter, the remote is really bad.

So I have got the Harmony risen 300th First, I noticed that the Harmony software installed to work at the 300th So visit the website, downloaded the setup and installed. Installed by the way is a driver for the 300 and (if not already) Microsoft Silverlight (and I thought I would lose another MS installation around - think!). After that registered and logged in - as we know it already from the other Harmony series. Why Logitech here relies on a Silverlight application and not the existing Harmony software is probably used a secret. Similarly, the open browser window is only partially suitable for netbook resolutions, is just to configure / change and rapid testing here a notebook very well.

need comes to device support, I probably nothing more to write, I think here is something for everyone. The configuration of the keys is simple, although maybe a few terms of the key functions of the original device may not be 100% clear what would be combined with a little experimentation. Also I have not yet figured out how a function of the button can be removed completely. The processing the remote control and touch points are ok, especially the matte surface is a blessing in this day and age. The number pad is in my opinion placed too far down and the buttons are too small (I know of the problem 555).

Unfortunately, the Harmony 300 can not "Activities" such as the "real" Harmonies, but only "Devices" (maybe a reason why the Harmony software can not be used?). That is, will not be switched on / off when switching to another device the appropriate device and is not selected, the corresponding input (TV, sound system). Only on the "Watch TV" button you can define whether an additional unit to be turned on with (Eg TV + satellite receiver, here is missing but also the change to the entrance, where the TV by the control signal from the cable does not automatically switches the source). Anyone who believes that is the 300 only had no LCD screen and no keyboard illumination is mistaken. For the two devices in my bedroom, I can live with this shortcoming, however.

Conclusion:
* 4 stars for those with 2 devices. Deduction's incomprehensible for the above software solution for existing Harmony owner, useability of the browser window in netbooks and the numeric arrangement or buttons.

* 3 points for those devices with the 3-4 of the Harmony 300 you want to control (especially in combination DVD / Bluray + audio system). Which I strongly recommend to look at the more expensive model (there's the older discontinued models as remaining stock from 30 €). This offer will need the above-mentioned "Activities" and are therefore much more comfort, but also a bit more configuration effort.
